Lily Fest 2010: Celebrating The Rocky Shoals Spider Lily
May 16, 2010 -- Noon until 5pm
Landsford Canal State Park is home to the world’s largest population of Rocky Shoals Spider Lilies. These beautiful flowers bloom each year along the
Catawba River and can be viewed from the park from mid-May through mid-June. A 1.5 mile, round trip hike down the Canal Trail at Landsford Canal State Park takes you to an overlook where the spider lilies can be best viewed.
This year, the park is extending operating hours to accommodate more people during the lily blooming season. The park will open its gates from daylight until dark so that more people can enjoy this spectacle of nature.
You may also celebrate the peak bloom of this rare wildflower at Lily Fest 2010. The festivities include food, music and other park activities. It will be held at the park on May 16, 2010 from noon until 5pm.
